Ten Years After: Alvin Lee (guitar, vocals); Chick Churchill (keyboards); Leo Lyons (bass); Ric Lee (drums). "Sweet Little Sixteen" was recorded live at The Isle Of Wight festival (1970). Includes liner notes by Neil Slaven.
WATT was the band's last album recorded on the Deram label and is one of their best. It starts off with two typical Ten Years After jams, "I'm Coming On" and "My Baby Left Me", the latter becoming an FM radio hit. Side two begins with a short instrumental followed by "Gonna Run", a dark sounding tune, very unlike Alvin Lee's more bluesy sounding numbers. The album closes with a scorching live version of "Sweet Little Sixteen". It all changed for the band after this. Their next album, A SPACE IN TIME, would be recorded on a different label 4 months later and have a half a dozen acoustic guitar numbers that pale in comparison to this recording. |
